It’s a VW Camper Van Tent – perfect for Glastonbury
Tue, 17 May 2011Yep, it's a VW Camper Van Tent
Now there’s a thing.
Camping comes second only to caravanning on the list of holiday experiences that are best left as childhood memories. What joy there is in being cold and wet under canvas in a field full of cows is an adventure that eludes.
But there are one or two exceptions to this rule of no tents after aged ten, and perhaps the most notable exception is Glastonbury.
If you must stay overnight at Glastonbury – and you’ve left it too late to grab a half-decent hotel room within striking distance of the Pyramid Stage – you can camp. In fact – hippy-influenced as it still is – the right to camp is included in your ticket price (incidentally, there will be the last dregs of tickets for Glastonbury 2011 going on sale this evening).
So whether you want to pitch your tent right next to Pyramid and be lulled in to a coma by 20 million decibels, or you’re keener these days for peaceful slumber and opt to make camp out at Hitchin Hill Ground, you’re going to need a tent
And this year, for £300, you can buy a tent that looks exactly like a 1960s Volkswagen Camper Van – it’s even the same size. What better way to pitch up at Glastonbury? And this isn’t some cheapo scam job either – it’s the real-deal, posh tent.
It comes complete with two zip-separated double-size rooms and an outer that can be put up first to offer some shelter as you erect the rest of your California Dreamin’, cool-dude tent . So if you have to camp, this has to be the way to go.
Jamie Oliver and Martin Clunes will be ecstatic.
