Jaguar E-Type: 50th Anniversary Collectors’ Book
Tue, 22 Feb 2011Jaguar E-Type 50th Anniversary Collectors' Book
I know. Jaguar are going to milk the 50th Anniversary of the E-Type. And why not? If any car defines not just a company but an entire decade in our history, it’s the Jaguar E-Type. And you will hear the words of Enzo Ferrari endlessly in the coming months, as he bestowed on the E-Type an honour history won’t forget – “The most beautiful car ever built”.
As we told you last month, 2011 is the Jaguar E-Type’s 50th Anniversary and Jaguar are out to celebrate at every remotely suitable event. E-Type goodness and celebration kicks off in earnest at Geneva next week, but will encompass just about any motoring event of note in 2011 – Goodwood and Pebble being highlights.
And when you have an event to celebrate – and an event that celebrates something so visually dynamic – the obvious route to go is the Coffee Table Book. A Limited Edition, daftly expensive (£299 for the VIP version – £49 for the pauper’s) gloriously illustrated celebration of all that is E-Type.
Jaguar has delved in to its archives for some stunning period images, commissioned some new photography and interviewed people like Sir Stirling Moss, Martin Brundle, Jay Leno and Sir Jackie Stewart – documenting their E-Type thoughts and passions – to create a book that’s a must have for any E-Type lover.
Yes, it’s not cheap. The bog standard is £49 and the VIP Version – which is individually numbered (1-399) and hand-bound in a specially commissioned reproduction of the E-Type’s original leather – costs £299. But, what the hell? This is the Jaguar E-Type
Now, where’s my wallet?
Note: You can order the Jaguar E-Type 50th Anniversary Collectors’ Book from FP Creative. And no, we’re not on a commission.
