Jaguar F-Type: The Expert opinion (video)
Fri, 14 Dec 2012Jaguar gave Martin Brundle, Christian Danner and Justin Bell the new F-Type to play with at Snetterton. Their glowing praise augers well for the F-Type’s sales.
A spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type, the F-Type is the first real sports car Jaguar has produced for forty years, and they intend the F-Type as the beacon to hang the Jaguar brand on (if that’s not a mixed metaphor).
So the expectation is that the F-Type will offer stunning handling and driving dynamics, but without completely sacrificing Jaguar’s ability to provide a cosseting ride when you want it. No one outside Jaguar really knows what the F-Type is like to drive, but Jaguar has fixed that by giving three very able pro racing drivers the chance to play with the F-Type at Snetterton.
Martin Brundle (probably best know now for his F1 TV stuff, but a former F1 driver and Le Mans winner), Justin Bell (son and look-alike of Derek, and a pro driver with much ability) and Christian Danner (Indy Car, F1 and F2 and now a TV pundit like Brundle) were flown in to Snetterton to be let loose on both the F-Type V6 S and V8 S for lots of blatting round the track and local roads.
We won’t spoil their verdict – much better to watch the video for that – but we will say that the F-Type made Justin Bell smile in a way that made it completely clear what he thought. And all three thought the Jaguar F-Type sounded absolutely wonderful.
We really can’t wait for Jaguar to send us an F-Type to play with. And even more so after this video.
