Juke-R gets Nissan GT-R suspension upgrades: Video
Mon, 28 Nov 2011
We promise the Nissan Juke-R series of videos will wrap up soon. This week we have the handling episode, where engineers show us what it takes to make the Juke-R turn in like the GT-R. Next week, we'll get the finishing touches.
Making the Juke-R handle well isn't as simple as bolting on the springs and shocks from Nissan's all-wheel-drive terror. Special attention has to be paid to weight transfer, with the raised ride height of the Juke. The roll bar needed to be stiffened and different damper and spring rates had to be dialed in.
The Juke-R roll cage was designed using a motorsports template, while extra weight was removed wherever possible. The Juke will get the larger brake package from the GT-R, with the same tire setup. The four-wheel-drive system in the Juke is adaptive, so keeping it in place and making it work with all the upgrades were also priorities.
Next week, we'll see the engineers put the finishing touches on the Juke-R and, if we're lucky, maybe a drive video or two will leak out. Check out the video and stay tuned.
