Keating TKR at MPH Show
Wed, 04 Nov 2009The World's fastest car - the Keating TKR
Not heard of the Keating TKR? Probably our fault for not running anything before. But it does make interesting reading so we’re remiss in not doing so before.
But now we have an excuse as it’s been revealed that the Keating TKR is going to be on the Reef Paint Shop stand at MPH, which kicks off this week (tomorrow – 5th November) at London’s Earls Court. So the Keating TKR; what is it? In a nutshell it’s a British Supercar with quite astonishing performance. And even more astonishing output.
Made in Manchester – once the bedrock of British Engineering and success in the Industrial age – the TKR features a 7.0 litre petrol lump which deliver 1,800bhp. Yes, you read that right. 1,800bhp. So much power and performance that Keating have been off playing on the Salt Lake Flats in California in a bid to take the production car land speed record. And they have. Sort of. They managed to clock 260.1mph in a timed run, 3mph quicker than the current record holder the Shelby Aero TT.
To take the record they have to go back and do it again. But having ‘been there, done that’ it should be a formality.
The MPH show is a good day out, incorporating as it does the Top Gear Live Show. Well worth a visit with lots of stands and lots going on. We’ll probably try and make it up on one day or another and take a peek at the Keating TKR and a few other goodies, like the Zonda Cinque and the UK debut of the Peugeot RCZ.
