Kia teases new MPV ahead of New York Motor Show

Kia has teased a new mid-size MPV it will unveil at the New York Motor Show on Wednesday 6th April.

The Korean brand insists its new people carrier will not only be able to transport eight passengers but also serve “as a purposeful offering for adventure seekers”.

We don’t think lifestyle types will be trading in their SUVs too soon, but the people carrier is likely to be bigger than the seven-seater Carens, making it potentially a rival to the likes of the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect. However, Kia has already said we won’t get it in the UK due to poor demand.

We’re likely to find out more information on the lead up the show, but from the picture released so far we can clearly make out Kia’s signature “tiger nose” grille.

The predecessor to the new MPV was the Sedona, which was axed in 2012 after a decline in sales.
