Here's what you need to know about the Koenigsegg One:1. It weighs 1,360 kilograms; it produces 1,360 hp. One horsepower per kilogram, which is why mad scientist Christian Von Koenigsegg is absolutely justified in bragging about it: it's the world's first "mega car," he said.
That weight, equivalent to a little under 3,000 pounds, includes the weight of all relevant fluids and half a tank of gasoline -- the other half having presumably drained itself by the end of the driveway. It uses carbon fiber bumper-to-bumper, and obsessive weight shaving: the wheels are carbon fiber, for instance. Even carbon fiber sun visors, said Koenigsegg, shaved off 100 grams. Carbon fiber springs are being developed -- if and when they're ready to be installed, they'll shave off another 3 kilograms.
Power comes from the same twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 from the Agera. In the Agera R on biofuel, it produces 1140 hp. How piddling. Here, it's been tweaked to ultimately produce 1,360 hp and a redline at 8,250 RPM; torque is 737 lb-ft from 3,000 all the way to 7,500 RPM. That clich
