Koenigsegg Agera R: Official
Sat, 26 Feb 2011Koenigsegg Agera R - confirmed for Geneva
We discovered last month that one of only two Koenigsegg Agera’s so far delivered had been turned in to a Koenigsegg Agera R – with extra horses and extra Koenigesegg goodness – for a member of the Oman Royal Family.
After a few phone calls we were also able to exclusively reveal that Christian von Koenigesegg liked what he’d done to the Agera so much, the Koenigsegg Agera R was to be turned in to a production model and would turn up at the Geneva Motor Show. And so it is.
The Agera R will deliver 1115bhp from its 5.0 litre V8 when it runs on biofuel – making it even more powerful than the CCXR Edition – and a measly 950bhp when you can only get your hands on regular unleaded.
How quick does that make the Agera R? No idea. Koenigsegg has released no figures yet, but as it weighs in at 1330kg – 500kg less then the Veyron SS – it stands a good chance of turning in some very sprightly figures.
The interior is Koenigsegg-lavish and covered by a removable panel, made possible by Koenigsegg’s carbon monocoque rigidity. That ability has been put to good use on this customer Agera R (it’s off to its new owner in Norway straight after the Geneva show – so keep your mits off) with a ski-holding roofbox – made by Thule – which swaps over for the standard roof panel when the call to the piste arrives. Other goodies on offer include something called a Vortex Generating Rim on the alloys which aids downforce.
So how much is all this Agera joy? As we told you last month, the ‘R’ option on the Agera will add €130k to the Agera’s list price of €850k. That may seem like a lot of money for a quick tweak and few more horses, but in the world of hypercars it’s actually something of a bargain.
And a chunk less than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
