After the leak of the Lamborghini Aventador J over the weekend, tonight we get the official reveal of Lamborghini’s stripped-out Aventador Roadster

When we ran leaked photos of the Lamborghini Aventador J Roadster at the weekend we said it threatened to steal a bit of Ferrari’s limelight at the Geneva Motor Show – and it will.

The Aventador J  Roadster is Aventador to the max, with all fripperies – including the windscreen and roof sacrificed in the pursuit of low weight and extreme performance. Lamborghini say the Aventador J is a four-wheeled sport-bike, and they’re not wrong.

There’s a new carbon fibre fabric called ‘Carbonskin’ that Lamborghini say is soft enough to be used for the seats, and regular carbon fibre abounds round the Aventador J from the bumpers to the big diffuser at the back.

The Aventador J uses the same 6.5 litre V12 with 700bhp as the Aventador Coupe, which means it’s eaither leather helmets and goggles for the driver and passenger or full race-kit. Otherwise, a fly at 186mph will do some serious damage.

Lamborghini say the Aventador J is to the Aventador Coupe what the Lamborghini Jota was to the Miura – improved performance and redesigned in every detail.

Just like the Jota, the Aventador J is a one-off, but it is for sale. Word on the grapevine is that Lamborghini has already been paid in full by one wealthy and eager buyer, but we’ll update when we’ve confirmed.
