Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale arrives

Lamborghini teased us back in August with the statement that Frankfurt 2011 would see a ‘Super Sports Car’ arrive from Sant’Agata. We thought it may be a road-going version of the Gallardo Super Trofeo and so it is, with the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale leaking out on the eve of the Frankfurt show.
The Super Trofeo Stradale is Lamborghini’s fulfilment of a promise to deliver a new car to every major motor show, but there’s nothing really new about the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale – it’s really just another lightweight, ‘Limited Edition’ Gallardo.
The paintwork on the Super Trofeo Stradale is a rather stunning shade of red called Rosso Mars, enhanced with the addition of a Countach-esque rear wing and a strict diet, taking the new Gallardo down to 2,954 lbs.
Performance comes from the 570bhp V10 lurking under that big wing means a 0-62mph of 3.4 seconds, put on the road through all four wheels – despite its diet the Super Trofeo Stradale still gets 4WD.
Lamborghini are only making 150 of this latest Gallardo, and it’s probably best to think of it as the run-out model. Maybe run out of ideas would be closer to the mark as the Super Trofeo Stradale?
when we predicted the predictable – that the ‘Super Sports Car’ heading for Frankfurt could well be the road-going Super Trofeo, we did comment that if it were it would be a repeat of the Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Limited Edition which was, at the time, billed as a ‘…lightweight Gallardo based on the Super Trofeo track cars’.
Oh, well. We’re sure Lamborghini will still manage to sell all 150 Super Trofeo Stradales despite that.
