Lamborghini Jota spotted
Sun, 29 Aug 2010The Lamborghini Jota snapped on the Autobahn
The last news we had on the Lamborghini Jota - Lambo’s replacement for the now quite ancient Murcielago – was a pointless tease for the Jota sent to us in July by Lamborghini with a photo of a Lamborghini bonnet in half shadow replete with Lamborghini badge. Oh, and the highly original strapline: Coming Soon…
Which we knew. We’ve been reporting on the Jota for quite some time (and on the halo Lamborghini we expect it to spawn – the Lamborghini Urus) so there are likely no huge surprises – except just how it’s going to look.
We are pretty sure that the Jota will get 700bhp from its V12 and will shed some serious weight over the Murcielago by using an aluminium spaceframe and a liberal dose of carbon fibre, and will come with 4WD. That should be enough to see the Murcielago break the 3 second to 60 mph barrier.
The Jota will be low and wide and slightly bonkers, although not as bonkers as the Murcielago, which is the last car conceived at Lamborghini before Audi injected a bit of Tuetonic efficiency (or a dose of ‘boring’, depending on your POV).
So now we’ve had spy shots we know what the Jota looks like. Well, no. They’ve all been disguised and the early spy shots were Murcielago mules. The photo here was grabbed through a window on a German Autobahn, and it shows what we expect – a long, wide, low supercar from Lamborghini.
Still, it is Sunday. And it is August. And we should find out by Paris in October. Probably.
