So that’s what we’ve been waiting for. The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. Which appears to be a Gallardo in carbon fibre, Reventon-style drag.

French web site Blog Automobile has acquired the photo you see above which they say is the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, which for those whose Italian extends no further than La Dolce Vita means ‘Sixth Element’. Pretentious. Moi?

But the Elemento looks better on paper than the rather clumsy looking Gallardo meets Reventon photo we have. But photos can lie; the Sesto Elemento may looking stunning in the flesh.

It seems the Sesto Elemento weighs in at just 999kg and is made entirely of carbon fibre. It is fitted with a hugely revised V10 and is capable of 217mph and 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds. Wow, if that’s right this is a real firecracker.

We don’t think that the Sesto Elemento is a production car, more a way of Lamborghini demonstrating that their assertion that future performance is reliant on lighter cars rather than more horses is entirely valid. And if the figures we have are right, they’ll get no argument from us.

Almost made the tease worthwhile.
