Land Rover Discovery Scoops Top Awards
Wed, 03 Dec 2008The Land Rover Discovery 3 is without doubt one of, if not the, best 4×4 (by far!) there is. Well built, enormously capable and, in its current iteration, a nice car to drive. And it has now won over 100 ‘Best’ awards worldwide.
Award winning Land Rover Discovery 3
The latest award to be thrown the Disco’s way is Australia’s Best Cars All Terrain 4WD of the Year Award, an award it has now won for an unprecedented 4 years in a row. The award was for the 3.0 litre TDV6, which beat off competition (as it has in the past) from the usual Japanese contenders.
The judges praised the Disco for just about every aspect possible. Great on-road ability, plus it’s unbeatable off-road poise, coupled with a great cabin and good safety as standard, made the Disco the best 4×4 in the market.
The General Manage of Land Rover in Australia was suitably chuffed:
“By wining Australia’s Best Cars Award for a record fourth year running, the Discovery 3 has once again proved it is still the benchmark for all terrain SUV’s”.
“Over the past five years the Discovery 3 has been a major part of Land Rover’s success in Australia, each year it continues to be our biggest selling model locally. Nothing can match Discovery 3′s outstanding breadth of capability, luxury and refinement.”
This award came on top of an award from the People’s Choice Awards, which voted the Disco the best Luxury 4WD.
But, as we reported the other day, Land Rover isn’t sitting on its laurels. The introduction of stop-start on the Freelander, which will be rolled out to the Disco the year after, will make the car even more desirable, by reducing emissions and improving economy.
Nice to have a good bit of news.
