Lee Noble returns with Fenix Automotive

We’ll resist telling you that Lee Noble is returning ‘Fenix’ like to the realm of specialist car makers. But he is, with a new company – Fenix Automotive Ltd.

Lee Noble was responsible for creating and manufacturing (well, the South Africans made his cars – they were just bolted together here) some truly amazing road-going track cars. Best known are probably the M12 and M400, but Lee delivered up his first car – the Noble M10 – back in 1998. He sold out the rights to Noble a year or two ago but he’s obviously still hungry to make cars, so he’s back with a new company and a new car.

All Noble cars follow the same formula – light, powerful and stiff. And Lee Noble aims to make his new car in the same mould, with prices starting at £75,000 (the ‘Old’ Noble has now gone very much up-market with the £200k Noble M600). The aim is to have a car that will accelerate to 100mph in under 7 seconds and be as good on road as it is on the track. The as yet unnamed Fenix car will be ready to roll by the end of 2010 and, unlike the original Noble Cars which were assembled in the UK, the whole car will be built and finished in South Africa and shipped to the UK.

Lee Noble’s cars have always been well received by the motoring press and lovers of track-day road cars, and we’re sure the new Fenix will offer more of the same. Lee Noble is promising a ‘Surprise Feature’ which will make the Fenix ‘Amazingly practical for track and road users’. We’ll have to wait and see what’s on offer, but development is already a year down the line and the first pictures are due to surface early 2010.
