Lexus IS
Thu, 10 Jan 2013Details and pictures of the new Lexus IS saloon have been revealed ahead of the car's full debut next week in Detroit.
Previewed back in September at the Paris motor show with the LF-CC concept, the IS features the carmaker's signature spindle grille and L-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
The IS also retains the prominent character line that rises from the lower body into the rear lamp clusters and also features another that runs underneath the windows. The front and rear lamp shapes have changed as expected.
Inside, the cabin has been designed around the driver with optimized ergonomics as the central feature. The material, trim and finish work alongside advances in HMI technology and the addition of an analogue clock, as well as new Lexus innovations such as electrostatic switches that control the air conditioning temperature just by touching them.
The increased width and wheelbase length when combined with thinner front seats provides more rear legroom and added storage space. It's also easier to get in and out of the car, while the IS also features new 60:40 split/folding seats.
