Lexus LF-A Spotted
Tue, 12 May 2009Lexus LF-A spotted out testing this week
[ad#ad-1]
Lexus have been playing with their Supercar – the Lexus LF-A - for at least four years now. They’ve had various mules floating around for years and have even been out playing on the track and at the Nurburgring. But still, four years from when the LF-A first surfaced at the Detroit Motor Show in 2005, a degree of mystery still surrounds the car.
But our snappers have caught what looks to be a pretty much production-ready car out testing this week. Maybe, just maybe, Lexus are getting close to a launch.
So, despite having just posted a record loss (437 billion Yen), Toyota seem to be pushing the LF-A forward. But is it even a Lexus? There is speculation that it might end up being badged a Toyota Supra, but the reality is probably that it will come as a Lexus Supercar.
What little we know of the Lexus LF-A certainly seems promising. Coming initially with a 5.0 litre V10, with something north of 500bhp, the LF-A will also spwan a hybrid version, utilising the oily bits from the LS600h in a suitably modified form.
There has even been talk of a convertible version after Lexus unveiled an LF-A Roadster concept last year, but that is even more uncertain than the coupe version. But it does look likely that Lexus will show us a production-ready version of the LF-A at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.
Let’s hope it was worth the wait.
