Lexus LF-A on sale in London
Mon, 30 Nov 2009The Lexus LF-A has gone on sale in the Lexus dealership in Park Lane
You may be surprised to learn that the Lexus LF-A is actually for sale if you were one of the first to read our report last week that you could only lease the LF-A. But if you came later to the story you’ll know that the lease-only deal applies just to the US. Lexus were very quick to contact us after we published the report (all of ten minutes) to say that it was just potential LF-A buyers in the US who would be constrained to a lease-only deal and that the LF-A was up for grabs in the normal way everywhere else in the world. Odd.
So with that in mind (the ‘For Sale’ bit), Lexus has set up a bespoke mini-dealers within its Park Lane dealership to deal with the LF-A ‘Experience’, where you’ll get a ‘Personal Liaison Manager’ if you seem inclined to stump up the £336,000 the new V10 Lexus will cost you. Least they could do.
Lexus are expecting potential buyers to sign an ‘Expression of Interest’ form and stump up a deposit. Once they’ve done that the Personal Liaison Manager will discuss personal preferences and specifications, with every LF-A being custom built – and only built after the order has been signed. And believe it or not, Lexus tell us they already have a couple of signed ‘Expressions of Interest’ for the LF-A. Which means that 10% of the UK allocation (which Lexus say will be a maximum of 20 cars) are sold.
Deliveries of the LF-A will start in 2011 and go on for two years. It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how well they do shifting a £336k Lexus Supercar. If they manage it, it opens up a whole new raft of possibilities for ‘F’ Lexus.
