Lexus LS (EU version)
Thu, 22 Nov 2012The fifth-generation Lexus LS is the latest full-size luxury sedan to wear the badge since Toyota's premium brand was introduced in 1989.
It continues the model's gentle evolution, this latest version reflecting the brand's L-finesse design language. This is best seen in its inverted trapezoidal 'spindle' grille and L-shaped DRLs. The EU model measures in at 5,090mm long – 30mm longer than the outgoing model – while the wheelbase remains 2,970mm in length. The front and rear overhangs have increased by 10 and 20mm respectively.
Inside, the dashboard is divided into two areas: an upper Display Zone with a large LCD multi-display screen and a lower Operation Zone that allows access to system controls. The instrument cluster consists of large high-visibility Optitron dials, a smaller multi-information screen and an aluminum analog clock, replacing the previous, low-rent quartz item.
The interior is available in a choice of six color schemes: Mellow White, Ivory, Light Grey, Black, Black and Saddle Tan, and a newly available Topaz Brown. Optional wood includes Walnut, Black and both matt and high gloss Ashburl finishes, as well as Shimamoku and Bamboo.
