The Lexus RC F Coupe arrived earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show and now, following the end of IS F production to make way for it, the RC F is going on sale in the UK, with prices starting at £59,995. Whether the RC F offers enough to prove a challenge to the BMW M4 remains to be seen, but on paper it all looks very promising – and good-looking.
In the UK, the RC F will come in two guises – RC F and RC F Carbon – with both models getting the same 5.0 litre V8 with ‘more than’ 450bhp and 383lb/ft of torque driven to the back wheels through an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift gearbox.
The RC F comes as standard with Brembo brakes, Sachs Monotube shocks, active rear wing, VDIM and 19″ forged alloys, with the RC F Carbon getting a torque-vectoring diff and CFRP for the roof, bonnet and rear spoiler.
On the ‘goodies’ side, the RC F gets LED headlights, 10-speaker Multimedia with DAB and DVD, Remote Toucpad control, Premium SatNav, Climate and EBD.
Safety stuff includes reversing camera, Hill Assist, Lane Departure, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and blind spot monitor plus parking sensors, electric heated and folding mirrors, electric steering column and keyless.
Inside is well-specced too with high-grade leather, electric front seats with heating and ventilation and ‘F’ themes for the steering wheel, pedals, trim and seats.
The RC F Carbon (if you feel like spending an extra £8k) throws in special 19″ forged alloys, Alcantara upholstery and Mark Levinson as well as the CFRP bits mentioned above.
The Lexus RC F costs from £59,995 and the RC F Carbon from £67,995, with UK orders now being taken and first customer cars expected in January 2015.
