Lingenfelter Retrokit turns today's Camaro into classic RS

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

Ken Lingenfelter knows retro. When the fifth-generation Chevy Camaro came out in 2009, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering quickly designed and built a retro Trans-Am kit to transform the Camaro into a modern-day TA. Now, he's taking the WABAC machine even further to create Retrokits that make the new ponycar look like a 1969 Camaro RS.

Two packages are offered: a 1969 style with a non-RS front fascia, and an RS kit with hideaway headlights.

The non-RS Retrokit includes a new front fascia, with standard headlights, a chrome bumper, grille assembly with SS badge, two new headlight assemblies, lower running light assemblies and all wiring necessary to install the kit.

The RS Retrokit includes most of the same equipment but adds hideaway headlight assemblies.

The kits can be purchased from LPE and installed at home or with the help of an auto body professional. Or, owners can opt to have Lingenfelter install the kit. While they're at it, might as well toss in an 800-hp engine upgrade.

The non-RS kit costs $6,850 uninstalled or $8,550 when installed by LPE. The RS kit is $8,150 uninstalled and $9,750 for full service. For more information, go to www.lingenfelter.com, or call (260) 724-2552.
