London is parking charge capital of the world
Sun, 29 Sep 2013We already know London is home to more multimillionaires than any other city in the world, but given the cost of living in our capital, this is hardly surprising.
And now, to further highlight London’s increasingly extravagant status, it turns out it’s the most expensive place in the world to park your car as well.

Research conducted by ParkatmyHouse.com revealed that motorists visiting London are forking out £709.67 a month to park in the city centre. In the West End, it’s likely to cost you £19.87 per day, whilst Westminster could result in you paying £21.57.
The figures put London way ahead of second-placed Zurich; it will cost you £558.56 to park in the financial capital of Switzerland. Next up was Tokyo, where the average monthly cost would be the equivalent of £492.85.
Anyone looking to park for less should probably head to Jakarta. It’s possible to park in the Indonesian capital for as little as 54p per day. Some people will remember when it was possible to park in a British city for around the same price. Those were the days…
The cost of parking in London is almost out of control, but the upward trend is unlikely to be reversed any time soon. Besides, there are enough millionaires in London who are able to pay the fees.
The best bet would be to leave your car on the outskirts of the city and rely on the cheap and uncrowded public transport network to take the strain.
Oh wait…
