Lotus has taken away the Exige from its American customers with the Exige Matte Black Final Edition heralding the end, but is planning on giving back something a bit meatier at Pebble Beach trhis month in the shape of the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept.
All we’ve got so far is one (less than wonderful) image of the Evora GTE Road Car and a bit of detail.
That bit of detail tells us that the Evora GTE Road Car is based on / inspired by the Lotus Evora GTE, which recently ran the Le Mans 24 Hours, and gets a tuned version of the regular Toyota V6 to deliver 420bhp .
Lotus aren’t divulging what that far from insignificant increase in power does to the performance of the GTE, but with an extra 75bhp we would expect to see a 0-60mph under 4 seconds.
Those 420 horses go through a sequential ‘box and put down on the road by lightweight forged alloys and a set of Pirelli P-Zero Corsas It’s fair to assume the Evora GTE is no pussy cat.
Cosmetically the Evora GTE does shout its intent with a fixed spoiler at the back, huge front splitter and a thumping great stripe running up the bonnet and over the roof.
And that’s about all we have until Pebble Beach. Is the Evora GTE a new Lotus model? Probably no. But it could be an lucrative little money-spinner as a limited edition production run.
No doubt we will learn more at Pebble.
