Lotus Evora – first customer car delivered
Wed, 02 Sep 2009The keys are handed over for the first Lotus Evora customer car
But it would appear that Lotus have little to worry about. Evoras are now running down the production line and will be up to full production levels by November. Lotus has an order book that fills the next five months already, and they’ve taken on 150 extra workers to cope with demand.
So things are looking good. Short of the Evora not living up to expectations once they’re in customers hands – which isn’t going to happen, it’s a crackingly good car – it looks like Lotus are going to have a pretty rosy few years, with the Lotus Evora Convertible followed by the New Lotus Esprit – which is expected to feature the Lexus V10.
And to prove the Evora is powering forward Lotus has just told us that the very first Evora has been delivered to a customer – Matthew Melling from Twickenham – at a ceremony at Lotus’ Hethel HQ. Apparantly Mike had managed to get a deposit down on the Evora within seconds of the order book opening, and his reward has been to receive the first customer car. The car was presented to him by Luke Bennett, Director of Lotus, who said:
“It is quite an emotional time to deliver the first Lotus Evora to Mr. Melling. The whole team has worked incredibly hard to design, engineer and produce such a stunning and high performing sportscar and it is a great feeling to hand over the keys to the first customer today. The Evora has won many awards around the world already so we are not surprised that there is high demand for the car and I am sure that each customer who receives their car will be delighted with their purchase.”
It’s great to have a ‘Good News’ car story, instead of the ‘much doom and gloom sales’ stories we get from everywhere else at the moment.
Right car. Right price. Easy sale.
