Lotus offers Final Edition models of the Exige and the Elise

Thu, 04 Aug 2011

It's the end of the line for the Lotus Exige and Elise models in North America. To celebrate, Lotus has created Final Editions for the Elise SC, the Exige and the Exige S260.

The lack of availability of Toyota's 1.8-liter 2ZZ is partly responsible for the cancellation.

Only 15 Final Edition Elise SCs will be sold, along with 25 Exige Matte Black models and 30 Exige S260 Final Editions.

The 218-hp Lotus Elise SC Final Edition will only come in select colors, including ardent red, aspen white, carbon gray and chrome orange. The base price is $58,625, including a $1,125 destination charge. Highlights include a rear diffuser with a black anodized finish, black leather perforated steering wheel, air conditioning and MP3 capability. It also gets the Touring package, which adds leather trim on the doors, center console and handbrake lever, along with the all-important limited-slip differential.

The Lotus Exige Matte Black Final Edition gets the supercharged 1.8-liter engine making 257 hp. It comes with the Matte Black paint finish, three-element rear diffuser, leather steering wheel, air conditioning, remote locks and an engine-start push button. The Sport Pack and the Touring Pack are included in the $71,025 base price, destination included. They add Alcantara trim, sport seats, the Lotus Traction Control System, iPod connectivity and an adjustable suspension.

The Exige S260 Final Edition comes with the same 257-hp engine as the Matte Black Exige, with both the Sport and Touring packs as well. All of the racing bits are included in the $68,625 base price, including shipping, as well as leather trim, remote start, noise insulation and air conditioning. You'll also get some frivolous things--to Lotus--such as a radio.

Act fast. The Final Editions are on sale now, and with a run of only 70 cars, they're probably going to go quick.
