MG Zero Concept at Beijing
Sat, 24 Apr 2010The MG Zero Concept has been revealed at the Beijing Motor Show
It’s good to see a new MG. True, it may not be everyone’s idea of where MG should be, but at least Morris Garages lives to die another day and stays alive as a marque, which is more than you can say for Riley or Hillman or Humber or Triumph or Rover or Austin or Morris or Alvis or…
What this may be is the MG2 we snapped being loaded on to a trailer in China a few weeks ago, but there is so little detail from MG in the press release on the MG Zero concept they might just as well not have bothered.
If we’re going to get treated to a new MG – concept or not – it would sort of help if we got some detail. The press release we got from MG talks about “…MG ZERO concept previews the design direction of the brand and demonstrates how MG can expand into this high- volume sector of the market.”
It goes on to say “…the high-tech materials are draw inspiration from ultra high-performance sports equipment and there is highly innovative use of interior lighting features to create real emotion in the cabin.” Which tells us nothing except it’s a small car with.. exactly what we don’t know. No chassis information. No powertrain information. No production predictions. Nothing of any value.
One of the best bits is “MG ZERO also explores the integration of the latest communications technology in the vehicle and in addition to the interior systems, it features a fun communications system on the exterior of the rear!” We have no idea what they’re talking about either, but perhaps they mean one of those gizmos that scroll mesaages across the back window – didn’t the TG boys play with on when they went caravanning?
So this is the MG Zero. It’s a small car. With a scrolling message thing at the back.
What more do you need to know?
