MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 – Details
Thu, 11 Jun 2009MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50
We were slightly off with the name in that first report, its actually MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50. Which I do hope they’re not thinking of putting on the car anywhere in full. For Goodness sake, why not just MINI F1 JCW, or something snappy?
Built to celebrate 50 years of Mini and the John Cooper success in F1, the new MINI is finished in Connaught Green with Pepper White Stripes (OK, we got that bit wrong too when we speculated – we thought it was going to be BRG – close, though), which are supposed to mimic the Cooper F1 colours (see – should have been BRG!) and sports a set of Challenge Alloys in black and the de rigeur bits of carbon fibre, ‘Limited Edition’ badges and – you lucky people – the bonnet is signed by John Cooper’s son.
The inside gets the black leather treatment and the carbon fibre bits and sports red highlights. Power comes from the regular JCW setup offering 211bhp and a 0-60 mph of under 6.5 seconds.
Actually, if MINI insist on bringing out more special editions than Bugatti, at least this one has a reason and a heritage. There will only be 250 built and MINI hasn’t actually deigned to tell us how much it will be. My guess is – too much. But they’ll all sell.
