Make the McLaren MP4-12C your own with new online configuator

We all want to own a McLaren--a lucky few among us actually will. But the rest of us can still dream, design our custom MP4-12C with McLaren's new online configurator and hope for a winning lottery ticket.

Anyone can log on at www.mclarenautomotive.com and access the configurator. There, you can try out various paint colors, wheels, interior materials and a number of other options to create your perfect McLaren MP4-12C. Our favorite part is seeing the McLaren in a color other than the McLaren Orange used exclusively in the press photos.

Formula One champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have both tested the McLaren MP4-12C and they've both configured a McLaren online. You can check out videos of the drivers at www.jensonandlewis.mclarenautomotive.com. It's pretty entertaining.

Beyond the exterior paint colors, visitors can color the brake calipers, rims and interior bits to match their personality. With the "Driver Zone" option, you can spec leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber in the cockpit. Also, the area around the driver can be further customized via five leather trims for the driver's seat, door trim and dash insert.

Luxury features such as navigation, embedded hard drive, voice control and wireless connectivity can also be added. With all of the options available, McLaren claims there are more than 1 million combinations. It's going to take us a while to prove them right.
