Maserati GranCabrio UK debut

We have no problems with how it looks. It doesn’t disappoint in the way so many cabrios do – it’s still elegant and stylish even if a four-seat cabrio from Maserati seems a bit incongruous.

But now the 175mph cabrio is here, Maserati are rolling out what they can in the way of publicity. It’s never easy selling a high end cabrio – particularly now summer has gone – and the economic climate makes it even more difficult. But Maserati has launched a GranCabrio online configurator for dreamers and potential customers alike, and now we have the UK reveal of the GranCabrio at a gala event last night in London’s Royal Horticultural Halls.

Maserati roped in a few faces to make the event more interesting, including Jodie Kidd (no surprise – she’s on the Maserati payroll) and chef James Martin. Jodie Kidd and Andrea Antonnicola, Managing Director of Maserati GB, hosted the launch. Maserati also brought along a classic Maserati – a 1964 Mistral Spyder – to add a bit of interest, and a high old time was had by all.

Probably the best sort of event to do the GranCabrio launch. The Polo set do seem to like Maseratis, and if you’re going to do a gala event launch you may as well do it in front of potential buyers.
