Maserati GranTurismo Sport replaces GranTurismo S
Mon, 20 Feb 2012The Maserati GranTurismo Sport should arrive by the end of 2012
The Maserati GranTurismo S is being replaced by a tweaked version – the Maserati GranTurismo Sport. Debuts at Geneva 2012.
We’re waiting for news of Maserati’s new baby Quattroporte, and were hoping Geneva may see a concept of the smaller Maserati Saloon. We’re also expecting a production version of the Maserati Kubang SUV (which looks like it could be the Maserati Cinqueporte), but one thing we will get from Maserati at the Geneva Motor Show in March is the new Maserati GranTurismo Sport.
The GranTurismo Sport is a tweaked and titivated GranTurismo S – which it replaces – with a sorted 4.7 litre V8 delivering 454bhp and, we guess, a sub 5 second 0-62mph (Maserati aren’t yet saying), and with a standard six-speed auto ‘box and optional six-speed automated manual.
Just so the neighbours know yours is the new GranTurismo Sport and not the GranTurismo S (assuming they’re Maserati anoraks, that is) the Sport gets a new front bumper, new headlights and LED running lights. The tail lights are tweaked too, and the interior gets a couple of new bits of trim, restyled seats and a new steering wheel.
Maserati has issued no price or performance details for the GranTurismo Sport, but we expect it to arrive in Maserati UK showrooms before the end of the year.
