Maserati new model rollout confirmed

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Maserati has revealed its plans for a new model rollout over the next few years as it targets 50,000 annual sales.

It seems Fiat’s plans for Maserati, and their aim to sell 50,000 cars a year by 2015, is on target with the latest infographic from Fiat clearly showing which Maserati models are planned.

The first car on Maserati’s list is the one we’ve already seen – the 2013 Maserati Quattroporte – which had a reveal recently and will get its public debut at the Detroit Auto Show next month. Bigger than the current Quattroporte, it gives Maserati the opportunity to introduce the second model on its new car list – the Maserati Ghibli.

The Ghibli is a smaller version of the Quattroporte and designed to take the fight to cars like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E Class (and the Jaguar XK) and is expected to debut at Geneva in March. Expect prices to start at around £50k.

2014 will see the arrival of the Maserati Levante SUV - previewed by the Maserati Kubang Concept – and based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee but with Maserati engines and suspension. It also appears Fiat are planning to build the Levante in Italy rather than the US (as we expected), and it will start at a similar price point to the Ghibli.

Further down the road is the next generation Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio and what we’re assuming will be Maserati’s take on the Alfa 4C – with the revival of the GranSport badge – as a car aimed at the Porsche 911 and Audi R8.

It’s all starting to look quite interesting at Maserati.
