The Mazda MX-5 Venture Edition – available as Convertible or Coupe – is the latest MX-5 Special Edition for the UK. Starts at £18,995.

The Mazda MX-5 gets the same sort of marketing as the MINI or Fiat 500, with seemingly endless MX-5 ‘Special Edition ‘ versions to drag punters in to showrooms. The latest for the UK is the Mazda MX-5 Venture Edition.

The MX-5 Venture is the UK’s version of Europe’s Spring Edition MX-5 (heading for Geneva) and comes as a 124bhp 1.8 litre MZR Soft-top (SE) or a 2.0 litre MZR Roadster Coupe (Sport Tech) with a six-speed manual ‘box. The Soft-top gets DSC and Traction Control and the coupe also gets a limited slip diff.

The MX-5 Venture comes in Metropolitan Grey Mica and two colours exclusive to the Venture - Radiant Ebony Mica and Crystal White – at no extra cost. Cosmetically the MX-5 Venture gets 17″ alloys, Fogs, Chrome Grill, Piano Black Bars and the required ‘Venture’ badges.

Interior tweaks include Havana Brown heated leather seats, leather for the handbrake and steering wheel with contrast stitching, Climate, Piano Black Trim, Cruise and – something  the MX-5 hasn’t had before – SatNav with 5.8″ touch screen and 4GB hard-disk mapping. The SatNav also comes with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity and multi-media functionality.

The Mazda MX-5 Soft-top costs £18,995 and the Coupe £22,285. Mazda are offering just 250 Soft-Tops and 550 Coupes, and to get sales moving there’s a 50 per cent deposit, interest-free finance option available.
