McLaren 12C Spider teased
Fri, 29 Jun 2012McLaren has started to tease the 12C Spider – the convertible 12C – ahead of full details in the next few days.
We’ve know that a convertible version of the McLaren MP4-12C – the 12C Spider – has been on the way for some time, but now it’s almost here.
We thought McLaren would just come out and introduce the 12C Spider, but they can’t resist teasing, although we wonder if McLaren might be trying to take some of the gloss off the UK debut of the Ferrari 458 Spider at Goodwood this weekend by revealing the 12C Spider before the end of the Goodwood weekend?.
So we get the photo above, and a video (below) of Jenson Button telling us how special the 12C Spider will be. Jenson tells us that without a roof you feel more part of the world and you smile every time you drive; the fresh air and noise is stunning and you’re even more able to feel at one with the car.
What we do know is that the 12C Spider will get a retracting hard top that stows behind the seats and still leaves the engine on show, unlike the Ferrari 458 Spider. And, thanks to the 12C’s carbon fibre tub, there will be no downside to having your 12C without a roof.
Unless you’re the wrong side of 40 and there’s a hole in your hair, that is.
