McLaren MP4-12C – Development Video
Fri, 13 Nov 2009The McLaren MP4-12C development video below
Two months ago McLaren revealed their new supercar – the McLaren MP4-12C. Beyond some disappointment that the styling was a little generic, the praise for the potential of the new Ferrari-busting McLaren has been pretty much universal. We’re more inclined to see the styling as ‘Classic Supercar’ and non-dating, but these things are entirely subjective.
Despite some extensive detail on the MP4-12C we’re not going to see the car hitting the roads until the early part of 2011. That was always the plan and McLaren have had no plans to do the Motor Show circuit until the actual launch is closer (perhaps Geneva will be the first outing). That hasn’t stopped the US motoring press concluding the US launch of the McLaren MP4-12C is delayed because the car won’t be at the Los Angeles Motor show next month. But it was never scheduled to be.
So this is going to be a case of building mo0mentum around the 12C in the time between now and when it launches. As the next step in that roll-out McLaren has now released a video of the development of the MP4-12C.
The video features plenty of talking heads including McLaren Automotive Technical Director Dick Glover and Chief Test Driver Chris Goodwin guiding us through the development process on the 12C (Ron Dennis did his video on the MP4-12C back in September). The McLaren boys have been blatting the MP4-12C round the Nurburgring and the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold (although you’re not likely to see that footage on TG any time soon). They’ve been cold weather testing in the Arctic Circle and hot weather testing in Bahrain. They’ve even had the MP4-12C out on the public roads in the UK and Germany.
A decent ‘Next Tease’.
