McLaren P1 Spied
Sun, 18 Nov 2012The McLaren P1 supercar has been spotted out testing in Diss in Norfolk making a visit to a McLaren supplier.
We got the public reveal of the McLaren P1 – the spiritual successor to the iconic McLaren F1 – at the Paris Motor Show in September, and the McLaren boys told us the car was 95 per cent of how the final P1 would look. Which seems to be borne out by these spy photos of the P1.
Twitter user Chris Bloxsome works at an AV company in Diss, Norfolk, and caught the McLaren P1 lurking in a car park on the industrial estate where he works. What was the new super Mac doing in Norfolk? Visiting a McLaren supplier seems to be the answer.
BF1 Systems, otherwise know as F1 Harnesses, is a provider of electrical, electronic and composite solutions for Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace and Marine industries and you can find their work in road cars like the Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Aventador, Pagani Huayra and all Aston Martins, and in track cars from Le Mans to F1 by way of NASCAR.
But whatever the exact reason for the P1′s visit to a nondescript Industrial Estate in Norfolk, it does show us that the P1 hasn’t changed much from the dramatic concept version McLaren took to Paris. Which is what we expected.
What exactly is under the skin of the P1 is still McLaren’s secret, but we are expecting a modified version of the V8 from the 12C with something approaching 800bhp, plus an additional up to 200bhp from a KERS system to give a boost.
It now looks like we could see the production version of the McLaren P1 as early as the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, before it goes on sale later in 2013 at something around the £800k mark.
