It’s only a few days since McLaren revealed the first customer P1s are now rolling out of McLaren’s clinical production facility in Woking, and it looks like Jeremy Clarkson has bagged one to play with. The video (below) shows Clarkson behind the wheel of the new P1 which, judging by the number plate, is probably one of the first customer cars on the road.

The opinionated one is preceded in the video by a pair of Range Rovers – one new, one old – at least one of which is a camera car, so this drive of the Mclaren P1 is obviously heading for a TV screen soon – hopefully on Top Gear.

Its seems Jeremy has picked a bad weather day for his chance to play with the P1, which may have an impact on what he can do. But with any luck it was still in his hands when the rain stopped so we can see what the P1 can really do in the wild.

And with over 900bhp from its V8 and electric motor combination, the P1 should be spectacular, with Ron Dennis proclaiming it to be at least 10 seconds quicker round Top Gear’s Dunsfold track than any other road car so far.

Hopefully, with Jeremy behind the wheel of the P1, we may get to find out if that’s true.
