McLaren Production Centre opened by PM David Cameron

The launch of McLaren Automotive and the McLaren MP4-12C has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for Ron Dennis and McLaren.
The reviews of the MP4-12C were overwhelmingly positive – with a few small caveats – and the press, on the whole, loved that McLaren were taking on the might of Ferrari with a car that truly was its match.
But there have been a few hiccups along the way. The McLaren Production centre – located right next to the McLaren Technology Centre – wasn’t completed in time for the first customer MP4-12Cs to be built, so they had to be bolted together in the Technology centre, where McLaren used to build the SLR.
Despite that, McLaren has had a few glitches with the software on the MP4-12C which, although not halting production, put paid to any customer car deliveries for a while.
Thankfully, McLaren have managed to fix the software issues on the MP4-12C and customer deliveries have restarted, and the Production Centre is no up and running.
To celebrate the McLaren Production Centre’s completion, David Cameron spent an hour or three at Woking this week, glad-handing the staff, making the right nosies and declaring McLarens stunning new production facility officially open.
McLaren documented the day in photos – which you can see in the gallery below – and we also have video of the Production Centre.
Now there’s no excuse not to get the new McLaren F1 out in view as soon as possible.
