Mercedes-Benz CLA

This is the Mercedes-Benz CLA, the four-door sedan version of the latest C-segment A-Class although the Merc marketing department would rather we call it a 'four-door coupé'.

Previewed by the Concept Style Coupé at the Beijing auto show earlier in 2012, the CLA will join a growing band of C-segment premium sedans including the new Audi A3. At around 4,600mm long it's over 300mm longer than the hatchback.

Shown here in AMG form, the CLA clearly borrows heavily from the A-Class from the B-pillar forwards, while its rear is a development of that seen on the larger CLS. Its bodyside surfacing is also reminiscent of its bigger sibling with a tapered embossed surface along the doors. Thankfully the rear wheel arch has ditched thay car's haunch in favour of a fender shoulder that grows out of the rear door and is resolved in the rear lamps.

Inside it appears virtually identical to the A-Class, while a range of bright color and trim options.
