Mercedes C-Class gets special edition ‘Edition C’ & new C220 CDI 4MATIC
Mon, 08 Apr 2013The Mercedes C-Class range is getting a new special edition model – the Edition C – with cosmetic and equipment upgrades and a new 4MATIC C-Class.
The current model of the Mercedes C-Class has been around for a while and is due for an upgrade in 2014. But with a year to go before we get a new C-Class, Mercedes has launched the special edition ‘Edition C’ models to inject some new showroom appeal in the C-Class range.
Cosmetic changes for the Edition C models include black gloss louvres for the grill, chromed tailpipes, smoked glass headlights, gloss black alloys and an AMG bodykit on the coupe, but only on the saloon and estate if you opt for Avantgarde trim.
Interior upgrades include sports seats (AMG seats in the Coupe) trimmed in Mercedes’ Artico and Dinamica (that’s fake leather and cloth) with contrast stitching and dark aluminium trim. The Edition C also gets a 4.5″ colour display in the instrument cluster which displays Attention Assist and Nappa leather with contrast stitching for the steering wheel, gearshift gaiter and door panels.
Mercedes is also extending the 4WD options downward with the launch of the C 220 CDI 4MATIC, in saloon or estate, with an optional Dynamic Handling PAckage.
It’s a sensible move from Mercedes to offer a fresher take on the C-Class, and the C220 CDI 4MATIC is a good route to go, offering the reassurance of 4WD on a cheaper model.
Trouble is, we’re not sure either the C-Class Edition C or C220 CDI 4MATIC will be offered in the UK. They’re now on sale in Germany, but we’re waiting for an update from Mercedes UK on availability here.
We’ll update when we have news.
