Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe Spied
Sun, 10 Apr 2011Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe
There really hasn’t been a huge number of Mercedes Black Series cars so far. We’ve had the CLK63 Black Series, which was very good. And the SL65 Black Series, which wasn’t. Oh, and the Mercedes SLK55 Black, which we never drove. Now we’re getting the C63 Black Series.
But instead of just delivering up a single variant of the C63 Black Series, it does look as if Mercedes are going to offer not just the C63 Black Series Saloon, but the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe you see in the photos above.
We’re expecting the C63 AMG – whether it’s the saloon or the coupe – to get a wider track both front and rear and get clothed in chunks of carbon fibre, which should cut body weight by the equivalent of a small American.
On the oily front, we’re still not sure. It’s likely that the C63 Black will get the same 6.2 litre naturally aspirated lump as the regular C63, but with power upped to around 513bhp and performance on a par with the UK-only Mercedes C63 AMG DR 520, which managed o-62mph in 4.1 seconds. But it could get the new 5.5 litre turbo.
But one thing you can be sure of – the C63 AMG Black Series will be very quick, and very expensive.
Think £100k plus. Which makes the £62k DR 520 seem a steal.
