Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake: Official
Mon, 09 Jul 2012The Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake has been officially revealed by Mercedes-Benz ahead of a public debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
We had the reveal of the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake just over a week ago, the surprise appearance of a camouflaged prototype CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake at Goodwood and, finally, the real Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake appearing last week in an unannounced Mercedes video.
And now we get the official details – and some photos – of the new CLS 63 AMG version of the Shooting Brake ahead of its likely public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.
All is much as we expected with the CLS 63 AMG getting 5.5 litre V8 from the CLS 63 AMG saloon with 518bhp, 516lb/ft of torque and a o-62mph of 4.4 seconds.
What we also get – as a special launch model ‘Edition 1′ – is the appearance of what will undoubtedly become the Performance Pack for the AMG Shooting Brake offering 549bhp and a 0-62mph of 4.3 seconds, designo wheels and interior, AMG carbon fibre bits and pieces and a plethora of ‘designo’ badges.
The standard edition CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake follows the saloon version in its offerings, with the AMG Speedshift box with four modes (Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual), three modes for the suspension (Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus), AMG back axle, wider front track and uprated steering.
There are AMG 19″ alloys as standard, ceramic brakes as an option, butch front end with AMG grill, meaty front wings with ‘V8 Biturbo’ badges, rear diffuser, sports exhaust, Nappa Leather, Piano Black trim and an AMG steering wheel. All much the same as the standard CLS 63 AMG.
Although we don’t have a price yet for the new Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake you can expect it to be the wrong side of £80k when it goes on sale in the UK in November.
