Mercedes E Class Cabriolet – Detroit catch-up
Fri, 15 Jan 2010The Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet was launched at the Detroit Motor Show this week
It’s easy to forget that a car has not officially launched when we’ve already reported on most of the detail. Such is the case with the new Mercedes E Class Cabriolet. Mercedes released lots of information on the E Class Cabrio back in December, but this week at the Detroit Motor Show was the first public reveal, so we thought we ought to report it.
It’s a good looking car, this 2010 / 2011 Mercedes E Class Cabriolet. Much better lines than the CLK Cabriolet it effectively replace, and some very neat touches too. Perhaps the most notable is the new AirCap system which is basically a small spoiler that rises from the top of the windscreen to deflect the air over the car and reduce buffeting and wind noise for back seat passengers.
Also on offer – but not standard – is the Mercedes AirScarf which funnels warm air down your neck to keep you warm with the top down. with AirCap and AirScarf in operation you’re as close as you can get to real all-weather drop-top motoring – rain and snow permitting.
The Mercedes E Class Cabrio will go on sale in the UK in the Spring costing from around £30k. There will be a full range of models from the E220CDI to the E500 and all points in between.
