Mercedes announces schedule for 2013 AMG Driving Academy

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

The Mercedes-AMG Driving Academy will return in 2013 at selected locations across the United States. Enthusiasts can test a spectrum of Mercedes vehicles including the E63 AMG, SLK55 AMG, SL63 and even the SLS AMG Gullwing.

In 2013 it will reach four tracks:

-April 24 to May 1: Road America

-Aug. 29 to Sept. 4: Road Atlanta

-Sept. 12 to 18: Lime Rock Park

-Oct. 17 to Oct. 23, Nov. 6 to 13 and Dec. 4 to 10: Laguna Seca

The one-day Basic Training program costs $1,795. It's designed to teach the fundamentals of performance driving and features car-control maneuvers that emphasize the capabilities of AMG vehicles. Drivers will also test their skills on a high-speed track during performance-course competition.

The two-day Advanced Training program costs $3,195 and includes a deeper level of technical driver's training on and off the track. The program picks up where the Basic level leaves off, offering more track driving time.

The three-day Pro Training course costs $3,995 and consists of intensely focused instruction and technical skills. Targeted to high-level drivers, Mercedes says the Pro Training course allows for maximum speed, challenges and thrills.

The Basic Training portion of the AMG Driving Academy is included with the purchase of a Mercedes-Benz AMG-branded car. Owners are allowed to choose a course within 12 months of purchase. They can also put the $1,795 credit towards an Advanced or Pro Training course. Course prices do not include meals or travel.
