Michael Schumacher tests 2015 Mercedes C-Class

Formula One ace Michael Schumacher was back behind the wheel of a Silver Arrow in a new Mercedes C-Class video this week. He is testing the autonomous features such as pre-braking, lane keeping and radar cruise control.

Mercedes director of driver assistance systems Jochen Hermann talks us through the video, with Schumacher behind the wheel, starting with the Distronic Plus system. Hermann says the car can decide whether to follow the lines, or follow the car in front if lines aren't present.

Schumacher and Hermann check out the blind spot indicators and pedestrian safety systems, using foam padding as cars and strange looking mannequins as persons. Herman comments on what it means to have an F1 driver helping with development, including when the warnings and intervention happen.

The 2015 Mercedes C-Class will launch late in 2014.
