Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV launches spring 2014 in UK – & is congestion charge free
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV launches spring 2014 in UK
By the time the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV starts to arrive in the UK in spring 2014, it will be two years since it was revealed. Mitsubishi had promised the Outlander PHEV would start to arrive in 2013, and they’ve managed to stick to theat, just, by announcing the start of production of the plug-in Outlander for Europe last month. But the UK has to wait intil 2014.
Still, when it does arrive it will offer a decent size SUV with the ability to travel for up to 32 miles on electric power only, which will offer some very handy tax breaks.
That ability to run on electric power only means the silly official economy figures endow the Outlander PHEV with official economy of 148 mpg which equates to official CO2 emissions of just 44g/km.
That equates to zero VED, zero London congestion charge bills and a BIK rate of a mere 5 per cent.
Mitsubishi already has more than 12,000 orders for the Outlander PHEV in Europe, and with the tax breaks it will get in the UK we’d expect it to be equally popular when it arrives here next year, even with prices expected to be the wrong side of £35k.
