New 2015 Kia Sorento revealed
Mon, 11 Aug 2014The new Kia Sorento, revealed ahead of its debut in Paris
We got a tease for the 2015 Kia Sorento last month with Kia revealing the new Sorento gets a slightly more sporting look with a lower roofline, higher beltline, sculptured body surfaces and a new ‘Tiger Nose’ grill. Now, with the new Sorento due to debut in South Korea later this month – and in Europe at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October – Kia has revealed the first photos of the new Sorento.
The new Sorento looks a decent effort, and the styling is certainly more appealing, despite elements carried over from the current Sorento, but there’s certainly influences from Kia’s Cross GT Concept.
The new Sorento make look sleeker than the current car, but it’s actually bigger, with an extra 95mm length, 80mm of which is in the wheelbase offering more passenger room in all three rows of the 7-seat Sorento.
Kia hasn’t revealed any photos of the interior, but it’s expected to be more upmarket than the current model with plenty of new technology.
Likely to come with a refined version of the 2.2 litre diesel fitted to the current Sorento, it’s though Kia are planning a hybrid version too, although whether that makes it to the UK remains to be seen.
Soon-Nam Lee, Kia’s VP Overseas Marketing, said:
While we have retained the name based on the tremendous success of the current model, the all-new Sorento has been completely redesigned and re-engineered, and promises to surprise customers with its thoroughly updated styling, a host of new convenience and safety technologies, as well as enhanced space, driving comfort and handling response.
The new 2015 Kia Sorento makes its European debut in Paris in October (following a debut in South Korea this month) with first cars expected in the UK in Spring 2015.
