New Aston Martin DBS Villa D’Este debut

The new Aston Martin DBS – codename AM 310 – will debut this weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

UPDATE: The new Aston Martin DBS has been revealed at Villa D’Este

The replacement for the Aston Martin DBS – which still doesn’t have a name but is being called Project AM 310 by Gaydon – is heading on a trailer to the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como for a world debut this weekend.

Due to go on sale at the end of the summer, the AM 310 is, say Aston Martin, 75 per cent new. Which, considering the platform and engine – although extensively reworked – are essentially the same as all Aston Martins in the last decade, is an interesting claim.

But the bodywork – including a big carbon fibre front splitter for the launch cars – is new and will be lighter and more dependent on aluminium and carbon fibre. In fact, it’s believed Aston Martin are considering an all carbon fibre version of the AM 310 – once they get the weave spot on.

Under the bonnet the V12 has been re-worked and now delivers 565bhp – a 55bhp increase on the current DBS – which should be enough to break 4 seconds 0-62 mph.

Despite an almost all new car, extra power and an upgraded and updated interior the new DBS is expected to cost £195,000, just £15k up on the entry-level DBS price.

More when the new Aston Martin DBS (AM 310) arrives at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
