New BMW 1 Series 3dr with new entry-level 114i revealed
Sun, 13 May 2012New BMW 1 Series 3 Door
BMW has revealed the three door version of the new 1 Series and a new entry level 1 Series – the BMW 114i.
The reveal of the BMW M135i Concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March gave us the first look at the three door version of the new 1 Series, and today we get the three door 1 Series range revealed in full as well as details on the new M135i.
The 3 door version of the 1 Series is really the proper 1 Series; its lines work better and it just suits the car, and with everything on offer from a 114i to a range-topping M135i xDrive there’s seemingly something for everyone.
Just like the new five door 1 Series, the new three door 1 Series offers a much better entry point in to the BMW world (as we discovered when we reviewed the five door 116i Sport recently), and the new three door just gives more options.
There’s a wide choice of both petrol and diesel engines available. Petrol engines are the 100bhp 114i, 134bhp 116i, 215bhp 125i and the new M135i we reported on earlier.
Diesel engine options are the 114bhp 116d, 140bhp 118d, 215bhp 125d and the eco 116d EfficientDynamics with 114bhp and emissions of just 99g/km.
Later in 2012 BMW will add more c hoice to the 1 Series range with the launch of the 168bhp 118i, the 181bhp 120d and a pair of 4WD versions in the 120d xDrive and M135i xDrive. The xDrive platform will also be available on the five door 1 Series.
We don’t have on sale or price details for the three door 1 Series for the UK yet, but we’ll update when we do.
