New Dacia Logan II Paris debut
Mon, 17 Sep 2012Renault’s cut price brand, Dacia, is continuing to move forward with the second generation Logan due to debut at Paris. Could come to the UK.
Renault-owned Romanian budget brand Dacia’s assault on the European car market shows no sign of letting up as the company readies its replacement for the top-selling Logan small-saloon car.
It is hoped that the second-generation model, which will make its public debut at next week’s Paris Motor Show, can continue the success of its million-seller predecessor.
Images of the model reveal that it will benefit from a more contemporary look, with a larger front grille and sculptured side flanks.
Inside, quality has taken a step-up, with a neatly integrated touch-screen multimedia system and metal-effect trim giving a classier look than the first-generation model, or that of the marque’s Duster SUV.
Mechanical details remain under wraps but the 1.2-litre 16v 75bhp unit from the revised Renault Twingo is likely to feature.
Key to the Logan’s appeal though, will be cost. Dacia has yet to confirm whether the model will come to the UK or not but if it does, the Logan will significantly undercut key rivals.
Given the £8,995 starting price of the Duster and considering that entry-level variants of Dacia’s forthcoming seven-seat Lodgy MPV are expected to cost South of 10K, it is possible that the Logan range will kick off as low as £6,500, making the £5,995 Suzuki Alto its fiercest rival.
An on-sale date of 2013 is expected for the Logan and Lodgy.
