New Hyundai Veloster (2012): UK models and prices
Fri, 14 Oct 2011New Hyundai Veloster (2012) - in the UK February 2012
The old Hyundai Coupe was the car that first made the world realise Hyundai was capable of far more than crummy little cars. And now, after quite a wait, we get its replacement – the new Hyundai Veloster.
The Veloster was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show at the start of 2011, and Hyundai say it will be in UK showrooms in February 2012. So what’s on offer?
What’s on offer is a decently priced coupe – from £17,995 – with decent looks, decent levels of equipment and some nice touches.
Those touches include a ’2+1′ configuration on the doors where there’s a hidden ‘extra’ door on the passenger side to make it easier to get in and out of the back of the Veloster.
The decent levels of equipment include stuff like 17″ alloys, a 7″ touchscreen media centre with lots of functionality, Climate, parking sensors and LED running lights. And that’s just on the entry-level Veloster.
Spend a bit more – starting at £20,495 – for the Veloster Sport and you’ll get 18″ alloys, leather, heated seats, panoramic roof, Cruise and Keyless.
The engine isn’t the most inspiring lump on offer with a not huge 138bhp from its 1.6 litre GDI petrol engine. But it does average 47.9 mpg and emits 1237g/km.
All round a decent offering – and good prices too – but we hope Hyundai sees the light on the engine front and comes up with a more promising option in addition to the 1.6 GDI.
