Hyundai in the Netherlands are using hypnotist Peter Powers to experiment with hypnosis to raise awareness for the new Hyundai i30.
We’ve been big fans of the way Hyundai has marketed their products in the last few years, managing to change perceptions of the brand in a fraction of the time mighty VW took with Skoda.
What we’re not too sure of is the latest marketing tactic being tried out by Hyundai in the Netherlands, who have enlisted the skills of hypnotist Peter Powers to create a 15 minute immersive video designed to be watched full screen on your computer – with headphones on – as Powers lets you experience the new Hyundai i30 in a whole new way.
Peter Powers is apparently a famous British television personality and hypnotist (really? We must lead sheltered lives) and has created the hypnosis video to market the Hyundai i30, and the full video can be watched online (we’ve only put the intro video below – we don’t want you disappearing in to a trance here) if you want to have a bash at it yourself.
Before you do (you can find it here) you have to tick a disclaimer box and then you’re in and ready to play. Powers does say that as it’s an online video and not in a controlled environment that only a small percentage will go ‘under’, but the experience does end with Powers taking you out of your ‘trance’.
It’s certainly a different way to go for Hyundai, but we’re really not sure.
